Noticing

A Poem by Amber Lea Starfire, ©2005

Birds party in the rain.
The worms wriggle blindly into the open,
while crawly things skim to the surface,
and the birds celebrate their feast.

They socialize on manicured greens,
abandoned by fair-weather ball-putters.
Winging low over their companions,
they play, exultant in the cool breeze,
And moisture-laden air.

Perhaps birds are always celebrating,
And I have just noticed.
